Eren, Acacia plan 500 MW of French batteries

While the BESS projects that Luxembourg-registered renewables company Eren Groupe SA will help French developer Acacia bring to fruition are all planned in France, executives behind the new partnership have stated a wider ambition.
Announcing the tie-up between the two companies, which will see Eren help accelerate the deployment of 500 MW of French BESS, Eren co-founder David Corchia noted Acacia’s track record in France and his company’s activity in Belgium and Italy. He added, “This promising partnership is in line with our ambition to create a new global champion of the energy transition.”
Echoing that sentiment, Henri Gouzerh, managing director of the Green Tower investor which helped found Acacia, said, “We are delighted to welcome Eren and grateful for their trust. Their expertise and credibility significantly strengthen Acacia’s trajectory, which is now ideally positioned to become a major player in the energy transition in France and Europe.”
The partnership will see Eren help commercialize and construct 200 MW of ready-to-construct BESS projects in France and accelerate a further 300 MW of projects in the nation.
The announcement of the partnership, made by both companies, did not offer any timelines for operation of the BESS in question, nor did it mention where any of them will be sited.
Eren was founded by Corchia and Pâris Mouratoglou in 2012, following the sale of their previous renewable energy business to French state-owned energy company EDF.
