Repono signs 1.4 GWh supply deal with HyperStrong

European developer Repono AB has firmed up its partnership with Chinese large-scale battery supplier HyperStrong.
Sweden-based Repono was launched out of the clean energy operation of the European Union’s European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) early last year with the mission of deploying 100 GWh of large scale energy storage across Europe by 2030.
Beijing-based HyperStrong on Tuesday said its firmed-up collaboration would help its Swedish partner deliver 1.4 GWh of that total by 2027.
Announcing the tie-up, HyperStrong said, “The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to accelerating the energy transition while supporting Europe’s ambition to scale local value chains and strengthen long-term industrial resilience.”
Repono Chief Executive Karim Nils Grueber said, “HyperStrong brings strong technical knowhow and proven experience in delivering integrated BESS solutions which is complementary to Repono’s extensive expertise in project development and more than 100,000 hours of BESS operations experience. We will lead with excellence in project design, permitting, and EPC [engineering, procurement, and construction] coordination. Together, we aim to unlock the potential of grid-scale [energy] storage as a backbone for Europe’s energy transition.”
Under the agreement, both parties will engage in joint planning and project reviews, including technical and commercial alignment on identified pipeline projects.
