Brazil’s Powersafe unveils all-in-one C&I battery storage product
As Intersolar South America 2025 demonstrated, battery energy storage systems (BESS) are becoming a must-have, rather than a ‘nice-to-have,’ addition to solar and wind generation systems.
Powersafe exemplified the trend by showcasing a product that integrates solar, large-scale BESS, and applications including fast charging and energy use for commercial and industrial clients. The company used Intersolar to demonstrate how it is developing domestic engineering and launching products aimed at everything from residential to large-scale projects.
“The initial idea behind the booth was to showcase the concept of a sustainable cycle,” PowerSafe Operations Manager AndrĂ© Ribeiro told pv magazine Brasil. “It’s something I’ve seen at other booths as well and I think this is truly the moment we’re living in.”
Powersafe’s system connects solar panels to a large battery bank which feeds a vehicle charging station which, at Intersolar, charged a car in around 40 minutes.
The product can also charge trucks or serve industry, according to Powersafe, with Ribeiro stating, “We’ve developed a complete system with intelligent software for energy management and advanced cooling capabilities. The product is entirely proprietary, developed in-house. The cell is imported. China currently has unbeatable technology in this regard. However all the engineering is ours. We design and draft the products, demand high quality standards, and have an office in China that certifies each stage with suppliers.”
Assembly takes place at Powersafe’s 7,000 m²-plus site in Minas Gerais, where a substantial inventory is held. The company, which also has sites in SĂŁo Paulo and Goiás, can store around 300,000 batteries.
The 6 MWh model demonstrated at Intersolar is Powersafe’s smallest BESS and the range includes containerized systems for large-scale plants as well as customized versions for smaller applications.
“Our cabinets feature a robust and attractive design, IP [ingress protection] for outdoor use, an automatic fire suppression system, and quiet operation,” said Ribeiro. “They can be used in everything from a pharmacy or small business to large residences.”
The company said its products are compatible with around 95% of inverters, and hybrid systems enable complete energy management: Instantaneous consumption, bank charging, and backup in the event of a grid outage.
Ecoflow distributor
Powersafe is also diversifying by becoming Brazil’s official distributor of Ecoflow portable power stations.
“Portable power stations combine a battery, charge controller, inverter, and MPPT [maximum power point tracking] into a single device, providing a ‘plug-and-play’ solution for backup and energy savings,” said Ribeiro.
The initial focus is on the residential market but Ecoflow applications range from camping and fishing to off-roading and industrial operation.
