EcoFlow unveils modular whole-home battery system for US launch: Delta Pro Ultra X
EcoFlow has announced its new home battery backup system in the Delta Pro Ultra X, now available in the United States and Canada.
The system combines an inverter rated at 12 kW (expandable to 36 kW with three units) and stackable lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, starting at 12.3 kWh and scaling up to 184 kWh of usable capacity. The company says it can deliver installation in as little as seven days (including a one day install) through a network of more than 400 certified partners.
The Pro Ultra X is positioned as an upgrade to the DELTA Pro Ultra released earlier this year, with about 60 percent higher continuous output and conversion efficiency of up to 97 percent. That increase in power output alone is significant, and 184 kWh of total could power a US home for as many as six days, based on a consumption of about 30 kWh a day as used by an “average” home, and significantly more with energy rationing and a solar PV home setup.
Each battery stores 6.1 kWh, weighs about 50 kg or 110 lb, and comes with an IP54 rating for outdoor use. The system is on wheels, too, making it quite different to competitors.
Operating temperature ranges from –20°C to 45°C, and EcoFlow quotes noise levels below 30 dB at moderate load. It can pair with generators as well via the EcoFlow FlowMaster Generator Rectifier for compatibility with a range of portable generators.
EcoFlow says that when it is paired with the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, which is its own 32-circuit, 200-amp switchboard, the system integrates with household circuits and can prioritize loads or shed loads through the EcoFlow app. The panel also supports an AI-based time-of-use mode that charges or discharges the battery in response to dynamic electricity pricing, along with weather, and it handles up to 10 kW of solar input across two DC ports (80–500 V, 15 A each).
Where it fits
The Pro Ultra X fits a little above the range of competing home systems such as Tesla’s Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh per unit, 11.5 kW peak) or Enphase’s IQ Battery 5P (5 kWh, 3.8 kW continuous) which more target single-phase backup and smaller modularity.
EcoFlow here is pushing both scale and portability (remember, it is on wheels!). A maximum configuration would combine three inverters and 30 batteries to deliver 36 kW / 184 kWh, more in line with small commercial storage systems than typical residential setups. The approach also allows gradual expansion without rewiring, something conventional fixed installations may lack, and you could elect to take an inverter and battery as portable power for outings or holidays.
The shift in North America is towards more prefabricated, installer-ready residential storage, aiming to compress design and permitting times.
In terms of pricing, the DELTA Pro Ultra X bundle (inverter with two batteries) is $7,999. The Smart Home Panel 3 is $2,999. Together, the pair are $10,899 bundled with DELTA Pro Ultra X (inverter, Smart Home Panel 3, and two batteries) until December 31st.
