EFT Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of the EFT Systems Group and known as the European service partner for BYD battery storage systems, has developed a pre-configured energy storage solution for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications.

According to the German company, the Industrial Flex concept draws on its extensive experience in both residential and commercial storage markets. The goal is to transfer the standardization and ease of implementation that customers expect from residential systems into a modular, standardized solution suitable for a wide range of C&I applications.

The system is based on BYD’s MC Cube battery modules with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells. Its Integrated Control Cabinet (ICC) contains a Power Conversion System (PCS) developed by EFT Energy Solutions. The entire setup is managed by an in-house energy management system (EMS) also developed by EFT.

Featuring a modular design, the system can be scaled in four standard configurations – from 144 kW / 501 kWh up to 576 kW / 2004 kWh – with further scaling possible via parallel AC connections. A maximum C-rate of 0.5 is achievable in all configurations. According to EFT, beyond these pre-configured options, more complex C&I installations of up to 200 MWh can be realized using compatible PCS solutions from manufacturers such as SMA or Power Electronics.

Even in its standard version, the Industrial Flex system supports “the most common C&I applications,” including self-consumption optimization, peak shaving, and time-of-use tariff management. It can also be connected to higher-level energy management systems, SCADA controllers, or direct marketing platforms to enable trading or dynamic tariff arbitrage. More advanced applications – such as EV charging, renewable-based heating, wind power integration, or hybrid generator operation – can be implemented using customized EFT EMS configurations.

Thanks to EFT’s ongoing cooperation with BYD since 2015, as well as partnerships with inverter and EMS manufacturers and European distributors and installers, the company identified a growing need for a standardized and easy-to-deploy solution as demand for C&I storage continues to rise.

“Against this backdrop, we founded EFT Energy Solutions in 2023 and developed the Industrial Flex system,” explains Paul Chester, Head of C&I and Utility-Scale Sales at EFT Energy Solutions. “Given the strong interest and positive initial feedback from our partners, we’re delighted that the solution is now available.”
