Italy approves 515 MW of battery storage projects

Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (Mase) has issued five single-authorization decrees for battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totaling 514.6 MW.

The approvals cover one project in Tuscany, one in Lombardy, one in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and two in Puglia.

EG Malva Srl, a subsidiary of Enfinity Global, received authorization under Decree 125/2026 for a 150 MW BESS project in Collesalvetti, near Livorno in Tuscany.

Under Decree 126/2026, Buja Srl secured approval for a 112 MW storage project spanning the municipalities of Gemona del Friuli and Buja, in the province of Udine.

Cellino Storage Srl, part of the Cellino Group, received authorization under Decree 127/2026 for the 50 MW “Cellino” BESS project in Castelluccio dei Sauri, in the province of Foggia.

London-based investment fund Ikigai Capital, through subsidiary JBESS Srl, obtained authorization under Decree 128/2026 for a 151.2 MW BESS facility in the municipalities of Lacchiarella and Zibido San Giacomo, near Milan.

Hergo Storage Srl, a subsidiary of Eni Plenitude and Infrastrutture, received authorization under Decree 129/2026 for the 51.4 MW “Manfredonia” BESS project in Manfredonia, in the province of Foggia.

In May, Mase issued five single-authorisation decrees covering 310 MW of battery storage capacity, including one project in Tuscany, three in Puglia, and one in Lazio.
