The Osmo project is being built between Os-Marsillon and Mourenx, in the Lacq industrial basin in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The battery system will provide two hours of storage capacity.

Amarenco said the project will provide multiple services to French transmission system operator RTE, including participation in the capacity market to help meet peak electricity demand, particularly during winter, as well as primary and secondary reserve services to support grid stability.

The project reached financial close with Société Générale and is being developed on a former industrial site to make use of existing infrastructure and an optimized grid connection.

Amarenco said the project follows the commissioning and repowering of its 105 MW Claudia battery storage project and reflects its strategy to expand battery energy storage projects in France and other European countries.
