Texas battery storage project completes NERC registration

Radian Generation says it has provided compliance support for North American Electric Reliability Corp.(NERC) registration and a commercial operations date for a 100 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Texas.

The Bexar BESS, developed by Goshe Energy Storage in Bexar County, Texas, reached commercial operation on March 12 with ERCOT approval. NERC registration followed on March 20. The facility exceeds the 75 MVA threshold, so it was required to register as a NERC Category 1 Generation Owner.

Radian Generation worked with Goshe during final commissioning to validate engineering controls, confirm technical alignment, and meet NERC CIP cybersecurity obligations.

The company said its engagement increased as the project approached commercial operation, working with the project owner, EPC, and generator operator to review technical documentation, operational technology design, and as-built system components.

“Bringing a facility of this scale into commercial operation while simultaneously meeting NERC registration requirements is no small task,” said Tyler Bohan, Goshe’s director of engineering. “Radian’s team understood our timeline, worked seamlessly alongside our engineers, and made sure we were compliant and confident from the moment we went live.”

Radian Generation will continue supporting the project through ongoing compliance and cybersecurity services, said Haley Horgan, an account executive with the company.
