Emaldo’s partnership with Twig marks its second market-access deal in as many months, as the company expands access to energy trading and ancillary service markets for residential battery customers.

Nordic smart energy provider Emaldo has partnered with Danish energy aggregator Twig to expand market access for its battery storage customers across Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

Emaldo, which said in July that its customers earn more than €1 million per month through its Grid Rewards program with over 150 MW of controllable capacity, will integrate Twig’s automated trading and optimization platform into its smart energy services.

The move follows a similar partnership Emaldo struck with Swedish balance responsible party Bixia in July to expand ancillary service market access in Sweden.

Twig, founded in Denmark in 2021, operates an automated technology stack covering asset aggregation, forecasting, optimization and energy trading across day-ahead, intraday, imbalance and ancillary service markets in Europe, the United States and Japan. The company’s platform manages flexible assets including battery storage, solar, wind and hybrid projects.

Alasdair Firth, Emaldo’s chief product officer, said the partnership strengthens the company’s trading capabilities as European energy markets become more interconnected.

Twig co-founder and CEO Casper Sønderby said the combination of Emaldo’s residential battery portfolio and Twig’s market-trading experience could help expand market access for customers.

The companies said they plan to expand the collaboration into additional European markets, mirroring Emaldo’s earlier Bixia partnership.

Emaldo was founded in Denmark in 2022 and has more than 12,000 systems installed across its markets, according to the company.
