Indian utility GUVNL has invited bids to set up 2 GW/4 GWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the state of Gujarat. The projects will be connected to the intrastate transmission system (In-STS) and have a two-cycle daily charge/discharge operation.

The selected developers will implement the BESS projects on a build‑own‑operate basis. Their primary role will be to provide energy storage facilities to GUVNL – allowing state distribution system operators to dispatch stored power on demand during both peak and off‑peak hours.

Successful bidders will enter into a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with GUVNL.
