Top German court rules grid connection payments for battery storage projects are permissible
Big batteries must now pay this construction cost fee when requested by a distribution network operator. The court says that’s fair because it works to prevent the wider system from overbuilding, and pushing excess costs onto everyday electricity users.

World’s largest second-life battery storage project joins Texas grid

Africa BESS: financial close for 1 GWh, 300 MWh changes hands
Three South African battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects totaling 1.28 GWh of storage have achieved financial close following a 7-billion-Rand ($387m) debt fund raise. The trio, known as Oasis 1, will enter into a 15-year power purchase agreement with national power provider Eskom.
