HyperStrong and NW, both established companies in their respective markets, are embarking on a joint venture to deploy and operate distributed electricity storage units and high-power charging stations across Asia.

NW Storm HyperStrong Asia will be based in Singapore, serving the entire Asian continent except for South Korea and Japan.

HyperStrong is already well established in the Asian market. It is one of China’s biggest battery energy storage system integration companies, with a cumulative installed capacity of over 20 GWh.

The Beijing-headquartered group has been working closely on developing energy storage products with French company NW since 2023. NW already has a total of 1 GWh in energy storage in operation across France, Finland, and Texas.

In October, NW secured €430 million ($467.2 million) in non-recourse bank financing from Santander CIB and Dutch Rabobank. It is one of few energy unicorns.

It makes distributed storage units, such as the JBox, as well as electric vehicle (EV) charging solution IECharge. Signing a formal agreement with HyperStrong enables the French energy unicorn to bring these products to Asian markets.

Commenting on the venture, Jean-Christophe Kerdelhué, Founder and CEO of NW, said “We are proud to export French expertise to Asia.”

Jianhui Zhang, Founder and CEO of HyperStrong, described the venture as “a continuation of the successful partnership between two parties, with particular emphasis to expedite the deployment of cutting-edge, resilient energy storage technologies in the Asian market.”
