France’s Socomec launches battery monitoring software

Battery maker Socomec claims its new SoLive Pro software can detect degradation mechanisms and potential safety risks in battery energy storage systems (BESS) up to nine months before problems occur.
The BESS monitoring platform was developed for the company’s Sunsys range as a result of Socomec’s acquisition of startup Powerup.
Socomec says SoLive Pro uses AI-based algorithms to provide deeper insights into the health and safety status of batteries.
In addition to analyzing battery management system operating data, the product considers real-time data from battery operating environments, such as ambient temperature and irregular load profiles. That, Socomec says, provides more precise condition diagnoses, enabling a more intelligent maintenance strategy and longer battery lifespan. The battery maker, however, does not specify how much extended life could be expected of SoLive Pro-monitored systems.
A battery discharge of just 30% is sufficient for initial calibration of the software, according to Socomec.
“Solive Pro, from Powerup, is the ideal solution for real-world environments where full [battery] cycles are rare or impractical,” said Socomec Marketing Director Guy Schaaf.
Battery evalution is performed via an app which can show data from multiple batteries, on dashboards. Owners can be notified of critical events via email and Socomec says the data recorded is stored on French servers and conforms to the ISO 27001 international standard for information security management.
Socomec unveiled Solive Pro at The smarter E Europe trade fair in Munich, in early May. The monitoring platform is now available.
