Acme Solar wins 550 MWh standalone BESS project in Andhra Pradesh, India

Acme Solar Holdings has emerged as the winning bidder for 275 MW/550 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) across two projects in Andhra Pradesh.

Acme Solar Holdings has emerged as the winning bidder for 275 MW/550 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) across two projects in Andhra Pradesh. It secured the capacity through competitive bidding in NHPC’s tender launched in February this year.

The company won 50 MW/100 MWh in Kuppam at a tariff of INR 210,000 (USD $2,456) per MW per month and 225 MW/450 MWh in Ghani at a tariff of INR 222,000 (USD$2,556) per MW per month.

The project requires system availability for two full operational cycles of two hours each every day. Acme Solar will receive viability gap funding of USD$31,579 per MWh or 30% of the total project cost, whichever is lower.

This win marks Acme’s entry into standalone BESS and strengthens its diversified portfolio, which includes solar, wind, hybrid, and firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) solutions.

Acme Solar Holdings is an integrated renewable energy player with a diversified portfolio of 6,970 MW and 550 MWh spanning solar, wind, storage, FDRE and hybrid solutions. The operational capacity of Acme Solar stands at 2,890 MW with another 4,080 MW and 550 MWh in various stages of implementation. With an in-house EPC and O&M division, the company does end-to-end development and O&M of the plants.
