Reliance Power Ltd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Reliance NU Energies, has emerged as the largest winner in the 1,500 MW / 6,000 MWh firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) tender issued by SJVN Ltd. The company secured a capacity of 750 MW / 3,000 MWh, representing the largest allocation under the tender, with a competitive tariff of INR 6.74 per kWh ( $0.076/kWh)

The project will deliver firm and dispatchable renewable power to DISCOMs during peak hours from a hybrid configuration comprising nearly 900 MWp of solar generation coupled with over 3,000 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity.

“With this addition, the Reliance Group has consolidated its position as India’s largest player in the solar + BESS segment, with a cumulative portfolio exceeding 4 GWp of solar and 6.5 GWh of BESS across four tenders under development and implementation,” Reliance Power stated. “This achievement, accomplished in just 10 months, highlights the Group’s rapid execution capabilities and its commitment to India’s energy transition and decarbonization goals.”

The FDRE-IV tender, held under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) guidelines, marks a significant step toward enabling round-the-clock renewable power supply through hybrid and storage-based solutions. The online auction, conducted on October 9, 2025, witnessed strong participation, being oversubscribed 3.3 times, with 14 bidders qualifying for the reverse auction process.

ACME Solar Holdings (ACME Solar) secured 450 MW capacity for assured peak supply of 1,800 MWh (450 MW × 4 hours) with a winning tariff of INR 6.75 per kWh for 25 years. The project will combine 300 MW of solar generation with 1,800 MWh of BESS, focusing on peak power supply to support grid stability and manage critical peak demand. It will utilize night-time connectivity in high irradiation zones in Rajasthan, marking ACME Solar’s first project to use Indian-made solar cells.

ACME Solar’s Chief Commercial Officer, Rahula Kashyapa, said, “Securing the SJVN FDRE-IV project effectively utilizes available transmission capacity from night-time connectivity, enabling early revenue realization. This is a win-win for both the customer and ACME Solar, achieving the lowest price in a pure peak power tender so far.”

Sembcorp Industries, through its renewables arm Sembcorp Green Infra, was awarded 150 MW in the same FDRE-IV tender. The project involves installing around 750 MW of solar and BESS on a build-own-operate basis to meet the contracted capacity. It is expected to achieve commercial operation within 24 months of signing a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN and will be funded through a mix of internal funds and debt.

A Nithyanand, CEO of Sembcorp’s Renewables Business in India, said, “This FDRE award marks a significant milestone in delivering reliable, clean energy solutions in India. With a secured development pipeline of over 4 GW in solar and wind capacity, and more than 1.4 GWh of BESS, Sembcorp is well placed to support India’s growing need for flexible and round-the-clock renewable power.”

With this win, Sembcorp’s gross renewables capacity in India has surpassed 7.6 GW, while its global renewables portfolio stands at 20.1 GW, including acquisitions pending completion.
