Indian renewables company ACME Solar Holdings has placed an order for more than 3.1 GWh of BESS in what the company described as “one of the largest battery storage procurements in India to date.”

The Haryana-based developer announced the order in a press release issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday and said the BESS would be used in company projects which are due to be commissioned across India in the next 12 to 18 months.

ACME said Chinese suppliers Zhejiang Narada and Trina Energy will supply the BESS in phased shipments over the next four to eight months.

The Indian company said the equipment will comply with International Electrotechnical Commission and Underwriters Laboratories standards.

ACME claimed to have a 6.97 GW portfolio of renewables and energy storage projects, including 530 MWh of energy storage capacity. Of that total figure, ACME said, 2.89 GW is operational and 4.08 GW is in various stages of development.
