Sunwoda and EcoSourcen Deliver One of Belgium’s Largest Distribution-Grid Battery Storage Parks

A 10MW/55MWh Energy Storage Deployment for Grid Flexibility

As renewable energy penetration increases across Belgium, distribution-level grid congestion has become a key constraint. The Deinze project addresses this through a system configuration comprising 11 units of Sunwoda’s 5MWh liquid cooling energy storage systems, enabling up to five hours of continuous charge and discharge per cycle.

This allows excess renewable energy to be stored and discharged during periods of higher demand, supporting load shifting and improving overall system efficiency.

Developed by EcoSourcen with financing from Patronale Life, the project supports grid flexibility while serving as a scalable model for distribution-level energy storage deployment across the region.

Partnership and Local Execution
