Copenhagen Energy commissions 76 MWh Ringsted BESS with Opoura
Copenhagen Energy has commissioned a 76 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Ringsted, Denmark, with Opoura providing grid compliance, control systems, SCADA, ancillary services, and software for energy market participation.
The project was commissioned on June 9, Copenhagen Energy and Opoura said in a joint statement. The companies said commissioning followed ancillary services prequalification with Danish transmission system operator Energinet.
“What stands out to us – and what we genuinely appreciate – is Opoura’s ability to deliver a coherent, end-to-end solution across the entire stack, from grid compliance studies and power plant controller systems to SCADA systems and energy management software,” said Jens Christian Johannsen, chief technology officer at Copenhagen Energy. “This integrated capability is a compelling value proposition for us, as it significantly reduces interface risk, streamlines coordination, and supports the development of a long-term partnership.”
Opoura said it is also delivering grid integration, controller design, SCADA, ancillary services, and market participation solutions for Copenhagen Energy’s Vemmelev BESS project, and is involved in three further upcoming BESS projects in Denmark from the developer.
Ringsted is Copenhagen Energy’s second major Danish BESS project following the 132 MWh Everspring project, which uses Huawei Digital Power batteries. The Danish developer is also expanding into Germany, where it has announced a 500 MW/2 GWh energy storage system near Bühl in partnership with Akaysha Energy.
