Kalpa Power secures 100 MWh BESS supply agreement in India

Kalpa Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lineage Power, a subsidiary of Pace Digitek, to secure 100 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity.

Under the agreement, Lineage Power will prioritize Kalpa Power for the supply of 100 MWh of BESS capacity manufactured at its facilities. The secured capacity will support Kalpa Power’s WATTBANK energy storage deployments across rooftop solar, open access, and hybrid renewable energy projects for C&I customers.

Kalpa Power said securing the BESS supply supports faster, more predictable project delivery for its customers.

“India’s energy transition is entering its next phase, where storage will become as important as generation,” said Rounak Muthiyan, founder and director of Kalpa Power. He added that securing 100 MWh of priority battery capacity from Lineage Power will support the company’s plans to scale WATTBANK deployments significantly as it targets deployment of 500 MWh of battery storage capacity by 2028.”

Kalpa Power has nearly 80 MWh of BESS capacity already under deployment across multiple projects. The company aims to deploy 500 MWh of BESS capacity by 2028 expand its renewable energy portfolio to 5 GW by 2030.
