Power Mech awarded 2 GWh battery storage project in India
Power Mech Projects Ltd, an industrial engineering, construction, and services company in the power and infrastructure sectors, has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, PM Green, has secured a contract to set up a 250 MW / 1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) at Goaltore, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The contract also includes a greenshoe option of an additional 250 MW / 1,000 MWh at the Durgapur Project Ltd (DPL) campus in Durgapur, West Bengal.
The project has been awarded by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (WBSEDCL) with a 100% off-take guarantee.
PM Green’s scope of work includes design, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, and operation and maintenance of the BESS facility at the Goaltore substation, along with the greenshoe option at the DPL campus.
The project is expected to be commissioned within 18 months from the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA). The operation and maintenance contract is for 15 years, with a provision for extension of up to five additional years from the scheduled commissioning date.
The total project cost, including the greenshoe capacity, is INR 3,126 crore.
