More than $600m for four US utility-scale batteries
Recurrent Energy, Jupiter Power and Peregrine Energy Solutions have secured finance for a cumulative 550 MW of utility-scale battery energy storage projects, which will take shape in Texas, Michigan, and an undisclosed location. Two of the planned sites are set to operate on a merchant basis.


UK’s Gresham House secures consent for 456 MW BESS in Scotland
ESS News understands initial design is for a two-hour BESS in Gretna, however the site is large enough to accommodate an eight- to 10- hour project with potential durations of 3.6 GWh to 4.6 GW. The project is not currently part of the Gresham House Energy Storage Fund (GRID).

Chile: Sphera Energy preps 300 MWh battery site, Prevalon Energy secures 310 MWh order
Sphera's Dorado Energy Storage System, in the Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins region, would cost an estimated $45 million. Meanwhile, Prevalon Energy, a battery storage spin-out from Mitsubishi Power Americas, has secured an order from Innergex Renewable Energy to supply two new projects.

Brazil could add 18.2 GW of energy storage by 2040
That figure would require incentives, regulation and ambition. A study by Clean Energy Latin America (CELA) estimated the Brazilian storage market should grow at least 12.8% annually through 2040, reaching a cumulative 7.2 GW, excluding client-side, 'behind-the-meter' installations.
