Engie acquires two Italian 100 MW batteries from Recurrent Energy
Engie has quintupled the scale of its Italian battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity. Completion of the acquired sites is scheduled for 2028. The company told pv magazine the sites could receive funding in Italy's Mercato a termine degli stoccaggi (MACSE) auction but other revenue streams could be exploited.

Researchers identify optimal level of solar, battery storage for Europe
Scientists in Hungary have developed a model to calculate the optimal PV and battery storage balance to support the European grid in the next few years. They found the cost-optimal range is 530 GW to 880 GW of solar, combined with battery storage equivalent to 2.5% to 7.5% of the total intermittent capacity.
Green Flexibility commissions grid-neutral battery storage project in Germany
The 15 MW/33 MWh storage facility in Immenstadt is the largest of its kind in Bavaria. 'Grid-neutral' operation of the battery has been agreed with the network operator Allgäu Netz to avoid placing additional strain on the regional electricity distribution system.

Polish utility plans to add 10 GWh of energy storage projects by 2035
Polish utility PGE Group is planning to add more than 80 energy storage facilities through to 2035 to the tune of PLN 18 billion ($4.7 billion). One of these will be the 981 MWh Zarnowiec battery energy storage project, which will be supplied with locally produced LG Energy Solution's grid-scale systems.
Honduras awards 300 MWh battery storage project
The National Electric Power Company (ENEE) has selected a Chinese-Honduran consortium to design, supply, install, test, and commission a grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Amarateca substation in the department of Francisco Morazán.
