U.S.-based Jackery, a portable solar energy solutions company, has unveiled the Jackery HomePower 2000 Ultra, its updated mobile balcony power storage unit designed for urban and suburban living with a 2 kWh storage capacity.

The new HomePower 2000 Ultra is a plug-and-play solar solution featuring an integrated inverter, higher solar yields, and smart energy management for quicker return on investment. Jackery is also introducing a new intelligent fire protection system.

Jackery HomePower 2000 Ultra upgrades

Coming a year after the launch of the Jackery Navi 2000, the Jackery HomePower 2000 Ultra, a 2 kW battery, features a more 40% compact design than its predecessor, with dimensions of 270 x 445 x 270 mm, and weighs 26.4 kg, compared to the Jackery Navi 2000’s larger 282 x 460 x 350 mm footprint and approximately 30 kg weight.

The 2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO) battery and supports modular expansion with up to three additional battery packs, allowing for a maximum capacity of 8 kWh. According to the company, the battery can be “80% charged in just 52 minutes.”

With dual maximum power point tracker (MPPT) PV inputs of up to 2000 W, the Jackery HomePower 2000 Ultra delivers 800 watts of AC output to the grid, which can be expanded with an external microinverter.

Fire safety features

Fire risk and safety remain critical concerns for battery energy storage systems (BESS) as the industry works to enhance risk mitigation and improve system-level safety.

The Jackery HomePower 2000 Ultra is equipped with what Jackery describes as an advanced fire safety system that continuously monitors for risks, providing real-time alerts to users, even when powered off, and automatically deploys an aerosol-based fire suppression agent within one second to prevent escalation.

According to Jackery, its latest unit has undergone extensive verification tests in the thousands, and can operate in extreme temperatures from -20°C to 55°C, while being IP65 standards rated for dust and water.

The Jackery HomePower 2000 Ultra is on sale immediately, with early bird pricing of €899, with a regular price of €1,099 applying from May 22.
