Trina Storage says it delivered 300 MWh AMEA Power battery project in Egypt within two months

Trina Storage has detailed its efforts on Egypt’s first-ever utility-scale BESS, as it completed a 300 MWh BESS in Egypt within 60 days, delivering ahead of schedule.

The facility, located in Aswan Governorate in Egypt, is an extension of AMEA Power’s 500 MW solar PV plant, commissioned in December 2024. AMEA Power announced back in July that it had commissioned the BESS and now Trina Storage has delivered more color about the site.

As previously noted on ESS News, the project is the first utility-scale integrated solar and storage facility in Egypt, and will enhance grid stability and support the country’s clean energy transition.

Trina Storage supplied its Elementa 2 platform, covering in-house lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells, DC compartments, and AC-side equipment for grid connection. The company said the project benefited from early customization for local conditions and close coordination with partners, highlighting its ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure in challenging settings.

“Faced with the extremely high temperatures and complex power grid environment in the Middle East and North Africa, we completed the 300 MWh energy storage project from equipment installation to grid connection and delivery in just 60 days,” said Vincent Wu, Global Sales Vice President and MEA MU Head at Trinasolar. “This achievement sets a new regional benchmark for rapid deployment and localized delivery. More importantly, it contributes directly to Egypt’s national energy stability by enabling the use of solar power even after sunset and reducing strain on the grid during peak hours.”

The project aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 renewable energy goals and national energy security plans.
