Turkish energy storage and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell manufacturer Pomega, and Mexico’s Jebla Group, will invest $400 million into a partnership which will eventually lead to a Mexican battery storage assembly and cell manufacturing site.

A deal signed by Pomega shareholder Kontrolmatik and LPG company Jebla stipulates the partners will initially import and sell storage systems for industrial self-consumption. The battery assembly plant will be built next year and cell production will begin between 2027 and 2029.

A public presentation about the collaboration said the partners’ initial $400 million commitment would go into distributing industrial self-consumption storage equipment.

The partners will serve the domestic market and have North American export potential.
