Capalo AI secures Polish electricity trading license, expands R.Power partnership
Capalo AI said it has obtained its own electricity trading license from Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE),allowing it to trade and optimize battery energy storage and hybrid assets directly across Poland’s wholesale electricity markets.
The Finnish company has been optimizing a hybrid solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) asset in partnership with R.Power since April 2026, with AARX Energy providing local market access, trading execution and balancing services as the third-party balance responsible party.
The company said it is transitioning trading activity from AARX Energy to its own newly obtained license. Capalo AI told pv magazine the transition is expected to take some time to complete. AARX Energy will continue serving as balance responsible party during the transition, with new contracts running under Capalo AI’s own license going forward.
“Poland has one of the fastest-growing pipelines for battery energy storage systems in Europe, and BESS will soon play a crucial role in providing flexibility to the electricity system. Receiving our trading license from URE marks an important milestone for our operations in the country,” said Henri Taskinen, co-founder and CEO of Capalo AI.
Taskinen said the company’s work with R.Power has “meaningfully increased capture prices and reduced curtailment” at the hybrid park, though the company did not provide specific figures on the improvement.
