EcoFlow Stream Ultra X launches, offering bigger battery for balcony solar
EcoFlow has expanded its Stream series of balcony solar power plants with the launch of the Stream Ultra X, an all-in-one battery and inverter for the residential market. The new model features a 3.84 kWh capacity LFP battery, doubling the storage of the previously released models in the series.
The Stream Ultra X will be available from August 6 with an early-bird price of €1,299, while the recommended retail price is set at €1,499. The unit integrates both the battery and inverter and is designed for plug-and-play use with existing solar systems. It delivers 2,300W of continuous power and has a 2000 W PV input capacity with a maximum input voltage of 60 V DC.
As mentioned, the Stream Ultra X eclipses the Stream Ultra by doubling the storage capacity from 1.92 kWh to 3.84 kWh as its chief feature. When grid-charging is required, it also has a boost to AC charging input to 1200 W as well, up from the 1050 W of the Stream Ultra.
With the extra capacity comes weight, with the Ultra X now weighing 38.8kg, up from 23.1 kg of the Ultra, with new dimensions 420mm × 294mm × 460mm. Both Ultra models have an IP65 rating for protection against water and dust, allowing them to be used outdoors.
For solar optimization, the system includes four Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs) to improve performance in low-light conditions. For households with higher energy needs, the system is expandable up to a total capacity of 23 kWh via the EcoFlow Stream AC Pro standalone batteries that can be integrated with the inverter. The battery has a listed cycle life of 6000 cycles to 70% capacity, and a 10-year warranty.
The unit also features AI-driven Time-of-Use optimization to manage energy based on electricity pricing and weather forecasts. It integrates with other EcoFlow products as well as third-party energy monitors from companies like Shelly and Tibber, as part of EcoFlow’s Home Energy Management System which can be controlled via app.
The Stream Ultra X launched in Europe, except for Spain and the UK. A representative told ESS News that the availability in these two markets will be announced at a later date.
