Slovenian electricity market operator Borzen has published details of a new grant scheme offering non-repayable grants covering the purchase and installation of battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The funding call, with a total budget of €10 million ($11.5 million) from Slovenia’s Climate Fund, is open to companies, public institutions and other legal entities.

The rebate scheme will co-finance the purchase and installation of BESS, associated hybrid inverters and related electrical installations and equipment, providing the costs were incurred between Oct. 1, 2025, and Jul. 31, 2026.

Additional eligibility criteria stipulates the battery storage system must be connected to the grid between January and July this year, before an application to the funding call is submitted. The applicant must also possess a valid grid connection approval issued after Jan. 1, 2024.

Successful applicants can receive a non-repayable grant that covers up to 45% of eligible investment costs, with support capped at €225/kWh of installed storage capacity.

The funding call will be open from August 4 until October 31, or until available funds are exhausted, with applications submitted electronically through Borzen’s portal.

A statement on Borzen’s website says the aim of the call is to support legal entities in reducing dependence on fossil energy sources and increasing competitiveness by increasing energy efficiency.
